Proud Mom Moment

I can't believe it, but my oldest daughter has started to READ!!! And she is in Kindergarten. I think it is absolutely amazing and one of the best "mom moments" I have had so far. We were at her Goal Setting Conference (yes, goals in Kindergarten!!!) with her teacher yesterday and she says, "It's so great that she is reading already. She is just speeding ahead." In my head I am thinking, well, not really, she is just recognizing her sight words that we have been working on. Then, much to my surprise, I am sitting down with her at my mom's house with a new "I Can Read Level 1" book and she read it to me!!! Of course there were some bumps on some words, but she was so determined to read the whole book! I was so proud of her perseverance. I truly feel blessed today to have such wonderful kids. Some times I take that for granted or get just a tiny bit frustrated with them when they are asking me a million questions, but it is times like today that remind me that it is worth it. It's worth making the extra effort to teach our children the right way to treat other people, and simple things like please and thank you. It's worth it to spend extra time each night to read just one more book to them. I know that parenting is hard, but being a good parent is really hard. I love mom moments that just bring it back into perspective for me! Love you girls!
